['xui̯vaːrts], Karel, belgischer Komponist, * Antwerpen 8. 6. 1923, ✝ ebenda 3. 2. 1993; Schüler u. a. von O. Messiaen, wurde 1970 Producer am Institut für Psychoakustik und elektronischer Musik in Gent und war 1974-87 Redakteur für zeitgenössische Musik am Rundfunk in Brüssel. Goeyvaerts hatte einen wesentlichen Einfluss auf die Entwicklung der seriellen elektronischen Kompositionstechnik (K. Stockhausen) ab den 1950er-Jahren.
 
Werke: Composition no 1 (1950/51, für zwei Klaviere, das erste konsequent serielle Werk); Op acht paarden wedden (1973); Mon doux pilote s'endort aussi (1976, für Chor); Litanie I-V (1979-83, für Klavier; für drei Schlagzeuger; für großes Orchester; für Sopran, Flöte, Klarinette, Violoncello und Klavier; für Cembalo und Tonband); Opern-Projekt »Aquarius« (1983-92); Voor Harrie, Harry en René (1990, für Flöte, Bassklarinette und Klavier); Voor strijkkwartet (1993).
